This one day tour from Christchurch includes; TranzAlpine Train trip, 3-4 hour guided walk in Arthur’s Pass National Park, return to Christchurch via the Great Alpine Highway. A great day in stunning New Zealand high country and you are back in Christchurch for dinner.
What kind of tour is this?
This is a guided one-day tour departing and returning to Christchurch. Your guide will meet you at your hotel and drive you to the station for your TranzAlpine journey. He will meet you in Arthur’s Pass again to lead you on your 3-4 hour hike up the amazing Bealey Valley in Arthur’s Pass National Park. After the walk and a few of the local sites, travel back to Christchurch by road through the Canterbury high country and plains.

How far do I have to walk?
A fair question we agree. The entire distance of your guided walk is 5-6 kilometres (3-4 miles) with a total vertical climb of around 200 metres.
The track is well formed and easy to follow but there are some places where you must walk on rocks, tree roots or through running water. We provide walking poles and your guide will always be on hand to help you. We are in our 6th season running this tour and have walkers from 7 to 70 and everyone has made it!
